Long ago, in the 19th century, German composer Theodor Oesten wrote this tune, inspired by a tiny, playful little elf. Right at the beginning, the music starts softly and then gradually grows louder, as if the elf is slowly peeking out of his hiding place. Later, it jumps between loud and soft, just like the elf who sometimes shouts with laughter and other times tiptoes quietly in the shadows. Perfect for setting a fun, magical, and slightly spooky mood this Halloween!
